Overview of Cost:The idea is not to scare you off but rather to provide you the information to plan ahead and find the most comfortable way to conceive a little addition to your family.
Treatments are not cheap. Assistance during the reproductive treatments can run up to R35 000 – R40 00 per one single try and there is no guarantee that you will conceive the second or third time round. There are cases where couples tried up to 6-8 times without any success.
Medical Schemes in general do not cover fertility treatments and most of the cost will have to be covered privately.
Before going into treatment with any clinic, make sure that you have all the facts on the cost involved. Some require a payment upfront and the second half of the payment after the procedure or over a period of time. Also require a breakdown of what will be covered for the amount quoted to avoid hidden cost.
IVF:
The costs vary from clinic to clinic. Some advertise around R20 000 but can run a high as R35 000 to R40 000 for one procedure.
The cost normally includes the entire procedure: Injectables

Aspiration (Retrieval of Eggs)
Laboratory Procedures
Embryo Transfers
IUI: Intrauterine Insemination.
Although a cheaper procedure, there are some hidden costs involved that may not fall in your planned budget. A good idea is to over-budget for additional cost.
