Adoption For Same-sex Couples
Two Moms:
In 2001 couple Du Toit and De Vos challenged South African child adoption laws and demanded the right to adopt as equal partners. De Vos adopted the two children under the single parent adoption law, 10 years earlier.
De Vos was then the only High Court judge in Pretoria. They won their case and change the law that made international headlines and assured the rights of gay and lesbian co-adoptive parents in South Africa.
