When a classified white, same-sex couple want to adopt a baby,  heterosexual couples will still receive preference above homosexual couples should they want to adopt in their own race group. 

It is a simple matter of supply and demand.  For this reason, a lot of classified white, same-sex couples will consider adopting other than in their race. 

The answer for this is simple:  Biological mothers that decide to give their children up for adoption, will select her best choice.  Traditionally, the perfect family is still perceived as a child with both a mom and a dad.

In the case of Open Adoption, the birthmother will find the best suitable couple to raise the child she is giving up for adoption.  Rarely going with a same-sex couple.  Most social workers will be up-front and tell you this before going through an emotionally draining process to be screened. 

When adopting trans racial it is important to take into consideration your own prejudices and views on race and culture.  As parents, you have to prepare your child on prejudices that still arise.  If a classified white same-sex couple adopt trans racial, your child will have to be prepared to deal with remarks in an appropriate manner.  Preparing your child on handling them as they arise is very important.  

There are many good literatures available on trans racial adoptions.  Giving a child a loving home should be the focus of adopting any child, irrelevant of its race and many couples are doing it with great success.   Yes, there will be additional challenges, but all children bring with them, their own challenges and trans racial adoptions should be seen in that light.
